Season to look forward to...
With some massive games to look forward to, season 2001/2002 looks set to be one to remember. With teams such as Man City, Coventry, Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday all visiting Grimsby, the fans can look forward to some special Saturday afternoons, or tuesday nights as the case may be.
We start the season with a home game against fellow division one minnows Crewe and our first away game takes us two the Hawthorns, for a game againts the olde enemy, West brom. Our first game against one of the divisions new boys see's us travel to Highfield road for a mouth watering clash against Gordon Strachans Coventry.
One thing different about the forthecoming season is the amount of Tuesday night games we play. This has something to do with the World Cup in 2002.
We go to Maine Road on the 24th October and Man City visit Blundell Park on 1st December. Both games against the Manchester club were games to remember two seasons ago as we were denied a point at MR because of a last minute winner and who could forget the atmosphere as we drew 1-1 at Blundell park.
We have two big holiday fixture's as Coventry visit Blundell Park on Boxing day for a game which is sure to be a near sell-out and we go to Oakwell to play Barnsley on New Years day 2002.
Our last game see's us go down to the New Den to play Millwall. This game could well be a 6 pointer as both sides may need the points to stay up or even, GO UP!
What ever the outcome, season 2001/2002 promises to be a season of excitement, with highs and lows around every corner, with there hopefully being more highs than lows... Fingers crossed, and may we once again prove the doubters wrong and better last seasons heroics.
GRIMSBY'S GOING UP!!!
